Last night I made a delicious salad I thought I’d share with y’all

It was super easy to throw together:
aprox. 1 cup spinach
3 /4 strawberries thinly sliced
1 tbs shredded coconut
half handful slivered almonds
about 4 oz cooked tempeh

dressing
half cup balsamic vinegar
2 tbs olive oil
juice of half lemon
juice of half lime
pinch seasalt

drizzle the dressing over, toss and serve.

SO yummy, so easy. first time having tempeh and I liked it a lot!

Lets Get Insane Day 5&6

Hi Guys!
Sorry I didn’t post yesterday….. I have a confession…. I didn’t do insanity yesterday. It started out that I was going out with my mom and didn’t have time before we left, and then I must have sad some gluten at lunch because I was feeling off the rest of the day. Yikes. I was feeling super guilty and even tried it but couldn’t get through the warm up, sometimes you just have to listen to your body. However today I’m not feeling to guilty about it, the program designs one day off a week, and I made it so its Sundays but on Sundays I usually go to personal training with Katie, so giving myself a day off wasn’t a terrible thing.

Today however I just finished. I was unsure which work out to do, the one that I missed yesterday or the one for today which was one I have done already since they are starting to repeat. I decided on the one I missed yesterday that way I’ve tried all the workouts once.

Pure Cardio. Yikes even Shaun T says this @#$% is bananas. Because well, it was. Hard stuff. I was dying I drank three huge glasses of water during the whole thing. I did take some breaks though but it felt good to get through it. I have said it before but one of my favorite things about this program is that moves themselves are fairly simple, nothing took crazy you haven’t done before. Which I love because that way I can focus more on my intensity rather than mastering this crazy new move. Sometimes old school does the trick.

I am excited to get back to school with this though. One of my roommates agreed to do it with me! Which is great because I’ll be motivated to push harder out of friendly competition!

I also went for a run this morning, which was so chilly my legs were itchy :(

Off to the restaurant for the night!

Question: do your legs ever get itchy when you run, especially outside?

Lets get Insane Day 3 & 4

 Hi All!

Hope everyone is enjoying their day! It’s 80 ish here in MA my favorite! So first things first. I know I didn’t post yesterday on Insanity, but I promise you I didn’t skip it….. though it did cross my mind.

I hit the beach yesterday morning/afternoon. Obviously I can back with a wicked sunburn, no matter what I do my first time to the beach I always get burnt. Went for a run, made dinner, ate said yummy dinner (I’ll post the recipe later :) ) and started in on my reading addiction, the Hunger Games. Guys this book is sooo good I can’t put it down! So good that I almost skipped my Insanity workout yesterday. But there is something about Shaun T that makes me not able to quit. I dig it.

So at 930 pm I did my workout. It was Cardio Power and Resistance. Oh boy, I don’t recommend waiting until that late to do the workout. It was a killer lots of jumping, and I was pouring sweat by the end of the warm up. However I loved it I had to take a decent amount of breaks from the jumps. I hope by the end of this experience I can go all the way through no problem! Thats my goal at least. I felt great and accomplished for pushing through and getting it all done, even thought it was late.

Then I went back to reading ;)

Today was Cardio Recovery day, which was sort of like a cross between power yoga  and pilates  I think. It was definitely a workout but I feel muuuuch less tight after todays workout. This is a huge plus since my thighs have been so sore I feel like I’ve been waddling around like I’m 400 lbs.

I enjoyed this for a little recovery meal :)

Since being home though, I’ve gotten out of the habit of wearing my polar watch while working out, I always associate it with the gym. I’m trying to get a little better so I can give you a calories burned during Insanity! :)

Off to go enjoy this beautiful weather by doing laundry and chores playing outside !

Oh big news! I mentioned earlier I am on the internship hunt. I heard this morning I got a phone interview with one of my top choices! Keep your fingers crossed for me! Any tips you may have please let me know!

Do Big Things Today!!

Let’s Get Insane: Day 2

Hi All! :)

Hope everyones day was fabulous! I promised I’d keep you updated with my new challenge. Today was day 2 of Insanity, and I am starting to see why they called it Insanity. oh boy was it a little rough today… it was Plyo Cardio Circuit Day! It kind of fooled me at first.. it was dare I say easy, then we went into a stretch I was like oh I can do this no problem. Then I was proved wrong for sure! The real workout showed up! I was dying, definitely needed to take some breaks. It wasn’t too bad but my legs for sure are killing me!

I’m planning on doing  some Nike Training Club stretch routine by Shawn Johnson

and Tone It Up new Self Magazine workout, the girls are running a 10 week self magazine series called Drop 10, Sign up!

Then reading some

Yeah, I hopped onto the bandwagon #judgeme… It’s so good by the way.

I’ve also been thinking maybe I want a kindle? Do any of you have one? Do you like it? I’m thinking I want the basic one, nothing fancy, I have my Macbook and iPhone for that I feel… plus when I real I should be escaping the web and social network and games ect.

Let me know your thoughts!

Let’s Get a Little Insane

Happy Monday!

As the Tone It Up girls call it, Motivation Monday!

How’s this for a little more motivation…

I woke up this morning, did my run, had breakfast, let it settle, and did day one of Insanity

Nothing could be more true. It is a 60 day program of killer workouts between 30 and 45 mins long, with one day off. Shaun T encouraging you to dig deep each time to finish strong.

Now, I have to add my own disclaimer, now way do I think I’m fat and in need of losing a vast amount of weight. I do however look at my current situation of the daunting bathing suit season coming up oh so very soon. I want to be more toned and reduce my body fat % and gain more lean muscle. Also the spirit behind my oh so favorite Crossfit is to dig deep and has the same mental mentality. I look forward to going back to Crossfit when I’m officially home for the summer. However, I’d like to go back and make big progress rather than start back where I originally started. So this is in a way getting me back in shape for Crossfit.

So Insanity starts with a Fit Test that you are to repeat every two weeks. It consists of a warm up, and then a series of  8, one minute intervals where you complete a specified exercise as many times as you can in that one minute. Followed by a cool down and stretch. Here is a  my results. It also has you measure yourself and calculate your body fat each Fit Test day. I don’t think I’m going to show you that until there is something to compare too. But I will show you my numbers! :)

Hopefully I can continue to get better each time I do the test, it was no where near easy but my numbers aren’t too bad actually so I was proud of that. I hope to be updating every day for the first week and then maybe every other / one a week depending on what I feel is necessary. i know for the first month its 5 workouts so I think going on about the same 5 might get a little boring for you.

Along with Insanity, I have big news. I’m officially training for a half marathon! September 16th! :) How I am going about  training is doing the 5k Trainer on my phone, since I kind of got out of running shape. Then keeping up the mileage. 13 weeks out I’ll start the half training program. I’m still in search on ones I’ll love. Keeping my fingers crossed. And another way I plan to kick my butt into shape is the Tone It Up Bikini Series. They did one last spring and it was phenomenal. I plan to kick total booty and hopefully win some challenges as well! So Keep your eyes peeled for that as well! In the end I did take beginning pictures and will have be beginning stats as soon as I have something to compare it with, same goes for the pictures I might give you half way through, and then at the final end since it takes about 4 weeks to see results in any program you do :)

For Breakfast this morning I had a delicious protein pancake from the Tone It Up Diet plan.

And this little bugger was ready to catch any fallen droppings

And last night I finally got my plate of brussels! My restaurant makes phenomenal brussel sprouts! By the end of the night, however, the cook is so tired of making them he never wants to make me some. Last night I won my battle! Yum cider glazed brussels!

Thats all for now folks! Off to take the pup to the beach with Cam! :)
